Updated strategy of the Prison and Probation Service of Finland for 2024-2027 focuses on clients and skilled staff
The new strategy of the Prison and Probation Service emphasises the preparedness for future needs, the requirements of safety and security, the improvement of the clients’ abilities and the well-being of the staff.
The Prison and Probation Service prepared a new strategy for 2024–2027.
The updated strategy supports the ongoing organisation reform. The starting point was to condense and clarify the key strategic goals of the coming years. There are now five goals.
Strategic goals of the Prison and Probation Service
- We support our clients to improve their abilities to live without crime
- We do high-quality work with our clients and prevent crime in prison together with our cooperation partners
- Our work is founded on justness, equality, safety and security
- We are a desirable and stable workplace where well-being at work and occupational safety are given priority
- Future needs guide the development of our work, competence and structures.
– The keywords of the strategy are justness, equality, safety and security. Skilled staff play a central role in reaching the goals of the Prison and Probation Service. Therefore, improving the well-being of the staff and maintaining occupational safety will be our main strategic goals in the coming years, says Anna Arola-Järvi, Director General of the Prison and Probation Service.
The vision of the Prison and Probation Service is to be a respected and influential part of the public service system – we work safely together towards a life without crime.
The strategy was updated in the spring 2023. The goals were formulated based on the information received from the surveys and events directed at the staff of the Prison and Probation Service and the representatives of the staff organisations.
